These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Slate, a candidate write-up tool operated by Brutus ("we," "us," or "our") at slate-deck.com (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement to use the Service.
Slate helps you create candidate write-ups by turning a job description, a resume, and your notes into draft text, formatted to match samples you provide. Slate is a drafting aid.
You sign in using a secure link sent to your email. You are responsible for keeping access to your email secure and for activity that occurs under your account.
You agree to use the Service lawfully and responsibly. You will not misuse the Service, attempt to access other users' data, reverse engineer or resell the Service, or use it to create unlawful, misleading, or harmful content. You represent that you have the right to submit any job, resume, candidate, or other information you enter, and to have it processed to create your write-ups.
You keep ownership of the content you enter and the write-ups you generate. You grant us a limited license to process that content solely to operate and provide the Service to you, including sending it to our AI provider to generate your draft. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Write-ups are generated with the help of artificial intelligence and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. You are responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying every write-up before you rely on it or send it to anyone. The Service does not replace your professional judgment.
New accounts start with a number of free write-ups. When those run out, you may purchase additional write-ups in one-time packs (currently $9.99 for 50 write-ups). Purchases are one-time, are not a subscription, and purchased write-ups do not expire. Prices and pack sizes may change, and any change applies to future purchases. Payments are processed by our payment provider. Because write-ups are a digital product delivered immediately, purchases are generally non-refundable except where required by law. If something goes wrong with a purchase, contact us and we will try to make it right.
We may grant free or unlimited access to certain accounts, and we may offer coupon codes. We may change or withdraw promotional access at any time.
The Service, including the Slate name, branding, and software, is owned by Brutus and is protected by applicable laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to our branding or software beyond using the Service as intended.
We aim to keep the Service running but do not guarantee it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Brutus will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Brutus from claims, losses, and expenses arising out of your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or misuse the Service.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.
